How to become a Cameraman

To become a Cameraman you can start off by getting an internship or an apprenticeship. Going to university can improve your connections and skills. To become a Cameraman you first have to become a camera assistant. Camera assistants work with Cameramen and get all the things they need. This could be a spare battery or some extra lenses. A Cameraman is in charge of operating the camera. After becoming a Cameraman you can get promoted to a Cinematographer (Director of photography). A Cinematographer works closely with the director. Their job is to try to get the shot the director wants. They are in charge of what the shot looks like and they tell the cameramen what they want them to do in order to get the desired shot.

Cameramen have to be creative in order to achieve a great shot.
